Experience

My investment industry career started in 1985, and I joined Stifel in 2019.  Prior to joining Stifel, I began my career with Dean Witter Reynolds, where I gained valuable experience before the stock market crash of 1987.  My wife, Debbie, and I then enjoyed the experience of entrepreneurship in the late 1980s and early 1990s, in the residential playground business, representing BigToys.  My passion for serving clients led me back to the investment industry in 1999 with A.G. Edwards.  I transitioned to RBC Wealth Management in 2007 before joining Stifel for its focus on client-centric culture.

Personal
My wife and I (of nearly 40 years) have been long-time Tacoma residents and believe this is the greatest place to live and raise children.  We have three children and two grandchildren.  Our oldest child earned a degree in Education from Washington State University, our second oldest is a U.S. Air Force pilot, and our youngest child earned a degree from Gonzaga University.  You may find my talented wife on stage as a professional actor and in local theater.  I previously coached my children’s soccer teams.  When there’s sunshine, I enjoy staying fit by playing soccer and participating in water sports.

My Approach
When working with my clients, I use a holistic approach with a primary focus on near-term liquidity.  My goal is to help my clients mitigate the risk of being forced to sell an investment before it’s time to harvest.  My active investment philosophy is linked to the client’s liquidity needs, and their specific liquidity ladder, for those who are entering their retirement income years.  For those who are in their accumulating asset years, my goal is to ensure their investments are working toward their goals and keep them on track with an appropriate return.
